At the end of last year, the Apak Charity Team (ACT) asked the employees of Sword Apak to nominate charities which they would like to see the company support for 2017. Nominations were then shortlisted by the Apak Charity Team and put back out to the employees for a final vote.
The charities put forward by employees reflect the passions and dedication of the individuals at Sword Apak and we would like to thank all our employees who participated in the vote. Due to the very narrow gap in the total votes, the Apak Charity Team decided to support the top three!
We are therefore delighted to announce our 2017 Apak Charity Team Partners are Jigsaw Thornbury, Baggator and Southmead NICU.
Sword Apak CEO, Tony Allen said: “The Apak Charity Team’s partnerships provide wonderful opportunities for us to make a real difference and contribution to the communities our offices and teams reside. Our employees have clearly demonstrated a commitment to causes they hold dear to them and we look forward to working closely with our charity partners over the coming year”.
Over the course of 2017, the Apak Charity Team will be working closely with our charity partners to identify areas where Sword Apak can provide support and assistance.
Apak Charity Team Chairperson, Mika Curtis said: “I have been communicating back and forth with our chosen ACT partners, and I have to say, the dedication these charities have to their communities is inspiring. Jigsaw Thornbury, Baggator and Southmead NICU are all, without a doubt amazing causes with amazing people”

Sword Apak Department Days
Each month, a department is tasked with the exciting challenge to host either a fundraising activity or volunteer their time as an act of charity. Amounts raised from each department day will be matched in full by Sword Apak to be donated to our three Apak Charity Partners.
So far in 2017, there has been three department days, January saw the Charity Zumba Session by Client Services with Karen Sam Zumba. February was a joint effort by Marketing, Admin and HR for a Charity Pub Quiz (Suitable for work of course!). The April department day was hosted by our Business Analyst team who ran a Tekken and board game tournament. This month, our Technical Services and Operations team have organised a Nibley Nibbles fundraiser every Friday in May, selling a variety of cakes and treats!
To enable employees to more easily support the Apak Charity Team partners, a Payroll Giving scheme has also been launched. Payroll Giving is a tax efficient scheme that allows employees to donate to charities through their salary before tax is deducted, making donations worth even more!
