Hugh Ashby-Hayter, Analyst Programmer

“What most appealed to me was the opportunity to be more client-facing in my role; especially compared to other software development jobs I had looked at.”

I studied Computer Science at the University of Warwick. After graduating, I joined Sword Apak as an Analyst Programmer. Currently, my responsibilities are focused on the development and maintenance of the internet banking site for Sword Apak’s leading core banking software, Aurius.

What most appealed to me about Sword Apak was the opportunity to be more client-facing in my role; especially compared to other software development jobs I had looked at. I have had the opportunity to visit client sites many times since joining the company. I was given the responsibility to lead a demonstration of our core banking system during one of these visits. This was a great experience that taught me a lot and was very rewarding.

The working environment within the company is great. What really stands out is the approachable and friendly management who are always on hand to give help and advice when needed. However, I have also enjoyed a large degree of freedom in how I approach tasks, which is refreshing as it allows me to develop in my role.
